Our History | ||||||
History of the GCAD FoundationThe Great Canadian and African Diaspora Foundation was born out of sheer inspiration from God led by my excellent spirit of community service. Each day of my life I think of how I can leave a mark by helping retired adults of African descent as well as how to engage our youths by teaching them African history, culture and traditions. We all know that when people get along in any community, that community and children born in it trive. On the same token, a people perish and their community destroyed when they lack knowledge of their roots or fail to build together. As a community servant, and having seen the negative impact of lack of suitable or enabling environment for our young ones to meet and also the hardship people go through when they loose loved ones in our diaspora community. The Great Canadian and African Diaspora Foundation devised the Golden Heart Canada Program to help families who lost loved ones cope financially. It has became a household outreach community based fund raising endeavor geared towards helping such families cope financial and has helped to ameliorate the stress that come as result of the death of a loved one. 100% of all funds donated under the Golden Heart campaign at any particular time, go directly to the bereaved family in their own designated bank account.
